The problems slowing manufacturers down
Is your technology keeping the line running — or stopping it?
Every hour of downtime costs you production and shipments, which is exactly why manufacturers are a favorite ransomware target. Meanwhile, customers in the defense supply chain are asking for proof of security, older machines and systems go unpatched, and one overworked IT person is trying to cover it all.
- Downtime on the floor
- Ransomware that halts production
- CMMC & prime contractor flow-downs
- Legacy equipment & unpatched systems
- IP & controlled data leaving the building
- A thin IT bench
- Cyber insurance requirements
- Slow, spotty IT support
The problem isn’t your people. It’s IT that isn’t built for the way a plant — and its contracts — actually run.
Technology should keep production moving — not put it at risk.
You deserve a partner who understands uptime, contracts and compliance — not just another vendor.

We map what is connected, including older machines and Windows systems, and prioritize protection around what can’t easily be updated.
- Know what needs attention
A full IT bench
Strategic planning and an IT director-level partner alongside your existing IT person, or in place of one.
- Support without more headcount
Compliance, handled
Ready when your prime asks for proof
Customers in the defense supply chain increasingly expect NIST SP 800-171 controls, and CMMC 2.0 is the framework that verifies them. DoD has paused the Phase 2 requirement date, but CMMC remains part of defense contracting and contracts can still carry the requirement. Our CMMC-Ninety program helps you assess gaps, build the evidence and be ready on your timeline, not scrambling when a prime asks. See what the pause does and doesn’t change.

General information, not legal advice. Confirm contract requirements with your contracting officer or prime.

Frequently asked questions
What does managed IT mean for a manufacturer?
Managed IT means Simpatico takes over the day-to-day work of keeping your technology healthy: 24/7 monitoring, patching, an unlimited remote help desk, backup and disaster recovery, email protection and security. For a manufacturer, that means fewer interruptions to production, protected drawings and customer data, and a strategic IT partner alongside your existing IT person, or in place of one.
How do you protect a manufacturer from ransomware?
We layer defenses: email protection to block phishing, managed devices and patching, access controls, 24/7 monitoring, and backup with disaster recovery so you can restore systems instead of negotiating. It matters because the Verizon 2026 Data Breach Investigations Report found ransomware in 61% of manufacturing breaches versus 48% across all industries. No single tool stops every attack, so protection is layered and monitored.
Do you help with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171?
Yes. Through our CMMC-Ninety program, we help defense contractors and aerospace suppliers assess gaps against NIST SP 800-171, build the documentation and evidence, and prepare for CMMC. We pair that readiness work with the day-to-day managed IT and security that keep controls in place, so compliance isn’t a one-time project that slips the moment the assessor leaves.
Is CMMC still required now that Phase 2 is paused?
DoD has paused the Phase 2 requirement date, but CMMC remains part of defense contracting, and contracting officers can still include the requirement in contracts. Primes may also continue to flow down NIST SP 800-171 expectations. Pausing a date is not the same as removing exposure, so confirm your obligations with your contracting officer or prime, and read our CMMC Phase II page for the details.
Can you support older machines and plant-floor systems?
We start by mapping what is connected to your network, including older machines and legacy Windows systems, then prioritize patching, access controls and monitoring around them. We don’t replace your equipment vendors or service the machines themselves; we make sure the network, accounts and security around those systems are managed and that a problem on the floor is not made worse by IT.
Can you work alongside our existing IT person?
Yes. Many manufacturers have one internal IT person or a part-time resource. We can act as the bench behind them, handling monitoring, patching, security, projects and after-hours coverage, while they stay in control of day-to-day priorities. If you would rather hand everything off, we can take on full day-to-day support as well.
How much does managed IT cost for a manufacturer?
Cost depends on the number of users, locations and systems, and on which security and compliance services you need, such as CMMC readiness. Rather than quote a generic number, we start with a complimentary strategy session to understand your operation, then provide a clear scope and investment so you know what you are getting before you commit to anything.
What happens in a strategy session?
It is a straightforward conversation about where your technology is today and where the gaps and risks are. We look at uptime, security, backups and any CMMC or customer requirements, help you identify your highest-value starting point, and outline what it would take to get there. It is complimentary, with no obligation and no hard sell.
